Back from the holidays! Made this to randomize the in point of layers in After Effects. A huge thank you to Jessfer Limbo for helping me in figuring out how to stop the loop and restart for each layer. The instructions on how to install and use the script can be found below:
DOWNLOAD THE SCRIPT
You can download the script for free by simply filling in the boxes below. The direct download link will appear once you press the "Submit" button.
Copy the .jsx file > Go to Finder > Applications > Adobe After Effects CC (Version) > Scripts > Paste the script
Copy the .jsx file > Go to Program Files > Adobe > Adobe After Effects CC (Version) > Support Files > Scripts > Paste the script
RUNNING THE SCRIPT INSIDE AFTER EFFECTS
After Effects CC (Version) > File > Scripts > Randomize In Point of Layers.jsx
USING THE SCRIPT
Highlight the layers that you want to randomize the in points. The minimum value is set to one and you will be the one who will determine the maximum number of frames to set a range. So for example, if you set the max value to 15 the range of the random numbers will be 1-15.
There are two options for you:
- Randomize to whole numbers: the numbers that will be generated will be whole numbers. ex: 2, 7, 3
- Randomize to decimal numbers: the numbers that will be generated will be decimal numbers. ex: 1.22, 5.21, 3.46. This brings out a much more random effect. Although it will be difficult for you to edit keyframes since a keyframe is set to one frame.
Do send me a message if you encountered any problems with downloading or running the script: firstname.lastname@example.org. I'm also open to suggestions.
